Grangewilliam Stud is located in Waitotara, South Taranaki in an area renowned for producing fantastic racehorses. The Egmont Ash soil is considered some of the most fertile country in New Zealand by soil scientists.
Over the years, the Corcoran family have bred many fine horses including Doriemus (Melbourne and Caulfield cups double winner), Happyanunoit (only NZ bred dual American Group One winner), Drum, Frenetic, Kilmore Quay, Apollo Run, Run Like Al, etc.
The property has been owned by the Corcoran family since 1989 and was previously owned by the late Ian Parsons, breeder of Silver Bounty and filly of the year Sweet Offer, before being sold to the late Capt. Tim Rogers who established Grangewilliam Stud on the property.
Grangewilliam Stud is currently operated by Mark and Jane Corcoran, who have been running the business since 2007, taking over from Mark’s parents, John and Anne Corcoran.
Past stallions include War Hawk II (GB), Al Akbar (NZ), Cache of Gold (USA), Yachtie (AUS), Norman Pentaquad (USA), Stark South (USA), Brilliance (USA), Thano (ARG), Sandtrap (USA), etc.
